PostHeaderIcon Britney Spears Circus

Yeah, yeah, so we all know that Circus went GOLD here in the US, but it’s also been getting some major love… ooh, um, just about everywhere else, too! It’s #1 on both the “Billboard 200″ and “European Top 100 Albums” charts, but Brit also got some shiny records in the following countries:
Platinum: Ireland, Canada, UK
Gold: Belguim, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand
Silver: Italy

And in case you’re curious how Circus is ranking elsewhere:
#1 Canada, Switzerland, Mexico, Brazil, Japan
#2 Ireland
#3 France, Australia
#4 UK, Belgium
#5 Denmark
#9 Italy, Germany, Austria
#10 Netherlands

If your country isn’t next to that nice shiny #1, you best GET TO WORK! But deep down, if you’re reading this, I know you’ve done your part. It’s those other schmucks out there who need to get in the game…

BTW, enjoy these videos of fans around the world celebrating Britney’s birthday! What did you do for Brit’s birthday last week? Er… I won’t mention that I was celebrating WITH Britney in NYC. That wouldn’t be very nice, would it? OK, OK, I’m sorry — it was only one of the best days of my entire life, that’s all.
xx♥

PostHeaderIcon Britney Has The Highest Debuting Song Of Her Career

Britney has the highest debuting song of her career thanks to the No. 3 bow of “Circus” (Jive) on The Billboard Hot 100. This latest single wrests the title from Spears’ first chart entry, “…Baby One More Time,” which opened at No. 17 the week of Nov. 21, 1998. Those doing the math have already figured out that with “Circus” in town, Spears’ chart span expands to 10 years and one month.

In its first week on the tally, “Circus” is tied with the 2007 hit “Gimme More” as the second-highest charting title of Spears’ career. The only singles to peak higher are the above-mentioned “…Baby One More Time” and the current “Womanizer,” which both spent time at the summit.

“Womanizer” dips 9-10 this week, giving Spears two simultaneous top 10 singles for the first time.

On The Billboard 200, the parent album “Circus” debuts at No. 1, the fifth Spears album to do so. The quintet of chart-topping Spears’ albums are:

“…Baby One More Time,” six weeks (1999)
“Ooops!…I Did It Again,” one week (2000)
“Britney,” one week (2001)
“In the Zone,” one week (2003)
“Circus,” one week to date (2008)

“In the Zone” debuted and peaked at No. 1 the week of Dec. 6, 2003, so “Circus” is Spears’ first set to go all the way in five years.

“…Baby One More Time” made its debut the week of Jan. 30, 1999, expanding Spears’ album chart span to one month shy of 10 years.

On the U.K. album chart, “Circus” enters at No. 4, but there’s still a “Circus” on top. The resurgent boy band Take That debuts at No. 1 with “The Circus” (Polydor).

PostHeaderIcon Help Britney’s Circus Album Sell Over 600,000 Copies This Week

Just got the BEST idea ever! So we all know that Brit had an amazing first day with Circus… not only is her new single the #1 hit on iTunes and the top ringtone request, but fans made it their mission to get their hands on the album. Circus is already #1 on iTunes, and top retailers were overrun with fans wanting a piece of the action. This Circus frenzy got me thinkin’ — what if we, the FANS, rallied together to help make Britney the highest debuting female artist of 2008? You were wondering what Brit would want for her birthday, and I think that giving her an automatic GOLD RECORD would be pretty damn sweet. That means that we would need to help Circus sell over 600,000 copies this week alone… by midnight on Sunday, Dec. 7. Are you up for the challenge? Get all your shopping done with one click — give the gift of Circus this holiday season. Laughing out loud (Note to BRITannica’s Dad: Sorry pop, but you’re getting a Britney CD for Christmas. Enjoy!) xx♥
