Z100 Will Play A Clean Edit Of Britney Spears ‘If U Seek Amy’
New York’s top radio station, Z100, is dying to play Britney Spears’ newest single, “If U Seek Amy.”
But first her label is going to wash the song out with soap.
“We plan to play an edited, super-clean version,” says Tom Poleman, senior vice president of programming for Clear Channel, parent of WHTZ (100.3 FM). “We’re just waiting for a good edit.”
“Amy,” the third single from Spears’ hit comeback CD “Circus,” has kicked up a firestorm over the title phrase, which when spoken rapidly spells out a crude sexual phrase.
While popular music has a long history of double entendre, this is more like a single entendre, since the phrase in the song seems to have no other meaning.
Jive Records, Spears’ label, has promised a re-edited version of the song that cleans up the offending line, said Sharon Dastur, Z100 program director.
“The record label will be providing the edit,” said Dastur. “They’ve been letting us preview some potential options to make sure it’s appropriate.
“Last I heard, they were going to have Britney go back into the studio to re-record some tracks for it.”
The song caused some buzz when “Circus” was released, but it remained limited while two other songs were promoted as singles on the radio. (…)

Britney If U Seek Amy Music Video Details
Check out this awesome If U Seek Amy FAN MADE VIDEO above!!!
This was posted on Exhale by a member named Kyle who is a Britney insider and has supplied correct exclusive information in the past!
…..
I will say this about the concept - it is brilliant. Very original and thoughtful. Should be a beautiful video while still being semi-taboo. Should also create some controversy (especially among fans). Britney thought of this idea. Her management and label signed off of the treatment. Just keep that in mind in mid-March when you get to watch this gem.
-kyle
He also said that the director is not David LaChapelle.
and He also said earlier, last week:
“Video shoot is scheduled for first week of February. Single released in mid-March. IUSA was decided, literally, at the last minute. Let’s hope that UY is the fourth, and not OFU (well I personally hope, at least).

Britney Spears ‘If U Seek Amy’ Poses Censorship Problems For Radio
Check out The radio Edit above.
Profanity in pop songs is old news. Hell, the chorus to Christina Aguilera’s recent single, “Keeps Gettin’ Better,” kicks off with the phrase, “Some days I’m a super bi—.” That one is easy enough for radio stations to edit out in order to avoid any fines from the FCC or threats to yank their licenses.

Platinum: Ireland, Canada, UK
Gold: Belguim, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand
Silver: Italy
And in case you’re curious how Circus is ranking elsewhere:
#1 Canada, Switzerland, Mexico, Brazil, Japan
#2 Ireland
#3 France, Australia
#4 UK, Belgium
#5 Denmark
#9 Italy, Germany, Austria
#10 Netherlands
If your country isn’t next to that nice shiny #1, you best GET TO WORK! But deep down, if you’re reading this, I know you’ve done your part. It’s those other schmucks out there who need to get in the game…
BTW, enjoy these videos of fans around the world celebrating Britney’s birthday! What did you do for Brit’s birthday last week? Er… I won’t mention that I was celebrating WITH Britney in NYC. Britney Has The Highest Debuting Song Of Her Career
Britney has the highest debuting song of her career thanks to the No. 3 bow of “Circus” (Jive) on The Billboard Hot 100. This latest single wrests the title from Spears’ first chart entry, “…Baby One More Time,” which opened at No. 17 the week of Nov. 21, 1998. Those doing the math have already figured out that with “Circus” in town, Spears’ chart span expands to 10 years and one month.
In its first week on the tally, “Circus” is tied with the 2007 hit “Gimme More” as the second-highest charting title of Spears’ career. The only singles to peak higher are the above-mentioned “…Baby One More Time” and the current “Womanizer,” which both spent time at the summit.
“Womanizer” dips 9-10 this week, giving Spears two simultaneous top 10 singles for the first time.
On The Billboard 200, the parent album “Circus” debuts at No. 1, the fifth Spears album to do so. The quintet of chart-topping Spears’ albums are:
“…Baby One More Time,” six weeks (1999)
“Ooops!…I Did It Again,” one week (2000)
“Britney,” one week (2001)
“In the Zone,” one week (2003)
“Circus,” one week to date (2008)
“In the Zone” debuted and peaked at No. 1 the week of Dec. 6, 2003, so “Circus” is Spears’ first set to go all the way in five years.
“…Baby One More Time” made its debut the week of Jan. 30, 1999, expanding Spears’ album chart span to one month shy of 10 years.
On the U.K. album chart, “Circus” enters at No. 4, but there’s still a “Circus” on top. The resurgent boy band Take That debuts at No. 1 with “The Circus” (Polydor).

Finicky Critics Are Stuck On Britney Spears Circus
Sure Circus is selling like hotcakes, breaking records and topping music charts worldwide. But, get this: The critics also like what they hear. Check out these review excerpts to see what they are saying…
From the synthy open of “Womanizer” to the regretful ache spurring “Blur,” “Circus” gives Brit pop a whole new meaning, as the singer does double duty as a dance diva and brokenhearted balladeer. It’s no easy feat, but when Spears shoves aside the tabloid trauma and hooks up with the right producers–on this album it’s Guy Sigsworth, Danja, Dr. Luke and Max Martin–she is in a class of her own.
– Ann Donahue, Billboard
Circus shifts from defiant booty calls to subtler material; suddenly, it’s a first-rate electro-pop album. The Danja-produced ”Blur” is a remarkably pretty song about (finally!) an actual blackout. ”Mmm Papi” giddily sets her littlest-girl voice against a guitar right out of 1960s go-go rock. The standout is ”Unusual You,” a pulsating ballad where a woman of experience finds unexpected love: ”Didn’t anyone tell you you’re supposed to/Break my heart, I expect you to/So why haven’t you?” Mostly, Spears still presents herself as fantasy object, but here might be her own fantasy — of real acceptance.
– Chris Willman, Entertainment Weekly
Toxic” producers Bloodshy & Avant hit pay dirt again with the melodic, glowing “Unusual You.” The Max Martin-produced “If U Seek Amy” (say it fast) is a saucy, swinging standout, and the photographer-taunting stomper “Kill the Lights” recalls the synth crush of 2007’s Blackout.
– Caryn Ganz, Rolling Stone
A seasoned cast of collaborators including Danja, Bloodshy & Avant, Guy Sigsworth, and Max Martin ensures that Spears’s sixth album hits all the proper sonic touchstones. The fistful of dance tunes are fashionably stern, saddled with ominous strut and anonymous throb. But Britney is a palpable presence here, a flesh-and-blood singer.
– Joan Anderman, The Boston Globe
…with Spears’ sixth studio album, Circus (Jive), the mother of two exfoliates her grime and convincingly proves why she’s finally ready to cue the curtains and retrieve her spotlight.
– Tracy Garraud, Vibe

Help Britney’s Circus Album Sell Over 600,000 Copies This Week
Just got the BEST idea ever! So we all know that Brit had an amazing first day with Circus… not only is her new single the #1 hit on iTunes and the top ringtone request, but fans made it their mission to get their hands on the album. Circus is already #1 on iTunes, and top retailers were overrun with fans wanting a piece of the action. This Circus frenzy got me thinkin’ — what if we, the FANS, rallied together to help make Britney the highest debuting female artist of 2008? You were wondering what Brit would want for her birthday, and I think that giving her an automatic GOLD RECORD would be pretty damn sweet. That means that we would need to help Circus sell over 600,000 copies this week alone… by midnight on Sunday, Dec. 7. Are you up for the challenge? Get all your shopping done with one click — give the gift of Circus this holiday season.
